MISSION

To ensure that the Designated Groups, namely women, youth, and children in Moretele Local Municipality in Bojanala Platinum District Municipality in North West, near Region 2 of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, in Hammanskraal, north of Gauteng Province, and other communities in nearby Bela-Bela Local Municipality in Limpopo Province and Dr J.S. Moroka Local Municipality in Mpumalanga Province, realise their full social economic potential in families and communities that respect their dignity;

  • To empower youth, women, and children to live the lives they love, igniting their passion to make a positive contribution in North West, Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga Provinces.

  • To improve the quality of life of the disadvantaged communities in the afore-mentioned area, including the same groups in areas found within the vicinity of the organization, especially young people and out-of-school young adults.

  • Our work is driven by a passionate belief that we all have a responsibility to enhance quality of life through progressive education, training, development, and service to achieve a world without Prostate and Throat, Breast and Cervix Cancers, HIV and AIDS, Diabetes and Kidney Diseases.

  • For these aspirations to become reality, however, it is essential that the SM Foundation is seen to be firmly rooted within the life of the society, and that wherever possible, through the programmes, activitie,s and ethos of the SM Foundation, the leaders guide and support young people and act as mentors and role models in their personal, social and economic development. The programmes that the SM Foundation provides will create opportunities for the young people to develop into mature and responsible adults who will play an important role within their communities and wider society.

  • In working to achieve these aims, the SM Foundation will strive to create a climate of mutual respect, understanding, equity, diversity, and interdependence.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

  • Improve the social and economic status of youth, women, and children in North West, Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga Provinces, with a specific focus:​

  • To serve as advocacy for Designated Groups, especially young people from rural areas, focusing on Human Rights Development for Youth, utilizing media publicity as a developmental tool to address issues about culture versus abuse of human rights.​

  • To serve as advocacy for young people through arts and culture programmes broadly in all formats.​

  • To present educational programmes to all adult males regarding the health-related sector, focusing on prostate and throat cancer.​

  • To present educational programmes to all adult males in peri-urban (suburban) and rural areas regarding their health and lifestyle.​

  • To champion the skills development interventions for the young people and women.​

  • To serve as an advocacy for Women as a Designated Group, focusing on breast and cervical cancer.​

  • To serve as an advocacy for Children as a Designated Group, focusing on child-headed households, building their capacity in terms of human rights abuse.​

  • To serve as an advocacy for Children as a Designated Group, focusing on drugs and sexuality.
